Founded in 1896 in Brugg, Switzerland, Brugg Cables has grown into a globally recognized provider of high and extra-high voltage cable systems.
In 2020, the company became part of the Terna Group and was integrated into Terna Energy Solutions.

Quality
To ensure the quality of its products and services – in terms of consistency, reliability, and full compliance with performance specifications at every stage of the process – Brugg Cables applies a rigorous system of self-inspection, process monitoring, and oversight supported by innovative technologies and the strict implementation of all quality-system elements. We also consider the use of high-quality raw materials to be essential.
Product testing
Routine testing
Every cable undergoes routine testing before it leaves the factory. In the medium and high-voltage range, we also measure factors such as the absence of partial discharge under a high electrical load. Our in-house test requirements are more stringent than the standards in some regards. In several ways, our inhouse testing requirements exceed standard specifications.
The following measurements are carried out on each individual cable length and checked for compliance with the relevant standards:
▪ Insulation resistance (1 kV cables only)
▪ Geometry
▪ Conductor resistance
▪ Dielectric losses
▪ Voltage testing and measurement of partial discharge.
Type testing
All cables undergo special type testing in accordance with the applicable standards. These tests – often labor‑intensive and carried out over long periods – are performed in our high‑voltage laboratory.
Brugg Cables has established its own testing laboratories for long‑term quality‑assurance testing, development projects, and in‑process testing during manufacturing in accordance with VDE 027.

Environmental protection
Our company has held ISO 14001 environmental certification since 1998. We are committed to using environmentally friendly technologies and materials in marketing, development, and production, and we support our suppliers and partners in promoting environmentally responsible products and proper disposal practices. We continually optimise workplaces and surroundings from an environmental perspective and encourage the careful, practical use of natural resources.
Environmental objectives
We achieve our environmental policy objectives by focusing on the following key topics, in particular:

▪ Fresh water consumption
▪ Waste (normal and special waste)

Occupational safety and health
Policy
Occupational safety, health, and quality of life are essential elements of our corporate policy. We promote a strong sense of responsibility toward safe working practices among our employees by providing information, motivation, and training. In this way, we aim to ensure full compliance with all relevant occupational safety and health requirements, as well as with applicable legal regulations.
Objectives
We have implemented appropriate accident‑prevention measures to ensure a continuous reduction in workplace incidents. Our occupational safety initiatives also aim to eliminate accidents resulting from hazardous situations on our premises or from technical faults in our systems, machinery, and buildings. We fully comply with the requirements of the current standard.
Principle
Environmental protection, occupational safety, and quality management are integral components of all our processes and represent a shared responsibility for every employee.
We place particular emphasis on quality‑assurance measures during all activities leading up to the manufacturing phase – especially in fully understanding customer requirements and ensuring accurate product specifications at the implementation stage. We also consider the use of high‑quality raw materials to be essential.
Regular monitoring and proactive management of our safety measures ensure the protection of our employees and reflect our commitment to safeguarding health and quality of life.
Brugg Cables is certified in accordance with the occupational safety and health standard ISO 45001.
Collaborative arrangements and partnerships
We aim to work with our suppliers as true partners, on a foundation of fairness, and we select them based on quality, cost, and delivery performance. Our partners must meet Brugg Cables’ compliance standards, particularly regarding ethical values and the responsible use of resources.
