Case study

The challenge

E.DIS Netz GmbH needed a new 110 kV underground cable link (“Putlitz Süd – Falkenhagen Damm”) between two substations (approx. 12 km, 11 joint pits) as part of its grid expansion for the energy transition. The project was particularly demanding due to the tight schedule from commissioning to completion, combined with the route length and overall technical complexity.

Analysis, engineering & project planning

The basis of all turnkey projects consists of extensive cable diagnostics, analyses, and simulations aimed at optimizing the cable system, defining requirements, and developing the technical design.

This is followed by overall project planning, coordination of the various trades, and support throughout the approval procedures.

Project management & cable construction coordination, production of cables & accessories

Our project management team provides full support to create a turnkey project as a customized solution, following the “one face to the customer” principle.

As a general contractor, we support the customer and take responsibility for the production and construction coordination of all trades across the different sections of the construction site.

The specified cables and accessories are typically manufactured specifically for each project. Our own production facilities and our global workbench come into play here. The various locations coordinate the production of cables and accessories, while Brugg’s quality management team monitors compliance with all applicable quality standards.

Delivery & logistics

Site‑specific and on‑time logistics are key factors in the success of complex construction projects.

Tu create a turnkey project, we arrange transport from the production sites to the respective country, as well as heavy‑duty transport to the relevant construction sites.

Transport and delivery are carried out in accordance with the construction site schedule.

Laying & installation

Professional cable laying and accessory installation are decisive factors for meeting the project schedule, ensuring smooth operation, and guaranteeing a long service life for the cable system. For example, the calculation and execution of cable pulling, including the corresponding tensile forces acting on the material, are highly complex tasks.

The installation of fibre optic cables for temperature measurement and monitoring also presents its own challenges.

Our specialists and certified partners receive regular training to ensure their skills remain fully up to date.

Testing, commissioning & acceptance

At the end of the cable project, extensive tests are performed on the cable systems to verify their performance data, followed by commissioning and customer acceptance. All of this takes place within the project schedule. And with that, a new turnkey project comes to life.
